Don’t get me wrong here, I’m actually a big fan of a lot of what BOOM is putting out these days. Some of the licenses they’ve taken over, specifically from Disney, have been utterly fantastic. Ian Brill, for example, a writer on Darkwing Duck and Rescue Rangers is somehow transporting me back to my childhood each and every issue.
Mike Nelson as well, is writing some fantastic titles with original characters.
Where I wanted to poke fun at them, though, was with their new Stan Lee created super heroes. Not that I’m doubting the legend mind you, I’m skeptical of the audience it will garner. Only time will tell if Stan Lee and Mark Waid’s offspring will get the older crowd buying BOOM titles.
