Before we get into today’s madness, it’s important to note that yes, Razzmatazz is in fact a color.
Now, after exhaustive research, I’ve come to the conclusion that when it comes to casting Superhero/Comic Book/Geek shows and movies there truly is no winning. No matter who pulls on the tights of your favourite costumed characters, the only thing you will here is a collective moan and furious anger at whomever is chosen to represent these characters in spite of some of the past representations.
We saw it most recently with the “Batfleck” controversy. In spite of all Ben Affleck has achieved, clearly his being put in a Batman suit will ruin everything about the character that’s come before and will ever come in the future. “But wait, Moss. Don’t you remember Daredevil? Hmm? DAREDEVIL?” Yeah, I do and the problems with that movie were way bigger than the performance of the guy in the suit. I also remember The Town, Hollywoodland and The Sum of All Fears.
And now, Hollywood has the GALL to cast Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. He’s only been nominated for an Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA for his acting ability. Maybe they should have brought back Gene Hackman. Now there’s a Lex Luthor full of the cunning and vigor that we know and love. And as if that wasn’t enough, Jeremy Irons has been cast as Alfred the Butler. Jeremy F’ing Irons. What’s he ever done in the field of acting, right?
So, as you see, the Superman/Batman movie is doomed. If only we could go back to the halcyon days where superhero movies were respected and dignified affairs. Like Dolph Lundgren’s Punisher or Matt Salinger’s Captain America or even Shaq’s brilliant take on the much-loved character, Steel.
Today’s gorgeous page comes to us from the one and only Christian Meesey:
Christian “Meesimo” Meesey is a mild mannered Caricature artist by day. But when night falls, he unleashes upon the world a slightly less mild mannered comic book artist, with more blogs than one human should have. He is a Leo, and enjoys Coen Brothers movies and the musical storytelling of Tom Waits.
Have a great week, folks. See you back here Friday!
