The idea of secrets in the comic book world is almost downright laughable. Information is going to get out there be it via a Tumblr post by an artist, a tweet from a writer, a bar conversation between editors and website managers or the fact that the publishers insist on revealing the information about new books almost four months before they are available to the general public.
So, I was not at all surprised to hear that the news of a Guardians of The Galaxy movie had been “leaked” pre-San Diego Comic Con. What I found more interesting was that it was considered a “leak” at all because a Guardians of The Galaxy movie had been talked about online for months, if not years before San Diego.
What does seem strange to me is the Guardians of The Galaxy “leak” could happen, but the title of the next Captain America flick (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) was kept from Ed Brubaker, writer and one of the “Architects” of the Marvel Universe, until it’s unveiling.
Also, let’s remember, Marvel doesn’t exactly have a great history of keeping track of stuff like this.
So feel free to insert-conspiracy-theory-here. Personally, I think this just boils down to a simple truth: Raccoons really are assholes.

Before we leave you, I, like a lot of people I’m sure, have been thinking quite a bit about the situation in Colorado. It goes without saying that our condolences and thoughts are with the victims of such a senseless act, but as the story unfolds I think it’s important to remember that the hardest questions often have no answers. Looking for blame is a natural occurance in a situation like this, but it’s way to easy for specuation to become rumor and rumor become fact. Lets instead focus on the acts of heroism that happened in that theatre and use the fact we can empathize with the victims as a catalyst to remind ourselves that life is precious and it doesn’t cost us a thing to celebrate it.
In the meantime, I wish you all well and will see you back here on Wednesday.
