So Marvel has made a big announcement regarding it’s “Phase 3” movies and everyone is bugging out. Personally, yes, I’m excited for these movies, but at the same time this was all stuff we knew was coming. With the exception of a confirmed Captain Marvel flick and the reveal that Avengers 3 & 4 will be one story (which was rumored anyways) there wasn’t any thing in this list that I haven’t been reading articles about for the last year or so.
Plus, no Hulk? No Black Widow? No Hawkeye– Ok, we knew there wasn’t going to be a Hawkeye movie. But still, it’d be nice to know he was welcome in the building at Marvel Studios.
One thing Marvel does better than anyone (and definitely better than DC/WB) is the spectacle. The idea that something is huge and magnificent and “you never saw this coming,” even when we did. Which is kind of how I take this slate of movies. We’ve seen them use this tactic to great success in comics, so why not do the same with their flicks?
Bottom Line: I’m excited, but when you take a look at ALL the movies that are coming out in the next 5 or 6 years, I may need to quit my job.
