One of the big questions on everyone’s mind after the casting of Ben Affleck in Zach Snyder’s Batman/Superman movie was “what’s he going to look like in the batsuit?”
Well, now we know. Or at least have a general, moody idea.
And before I even get into it, I will state a few facts:
- I liked Man of Steel. It had it’s flaws, but overall a good flick.
- I think Ben Affleck is going to do a great job as Batman.
- I think this movie is going to make a billion dollars no matter who is in it, who directs it or what extra characters are in it.
So, now that we are clear on that, it should come as no surprise that I really like the new look of Batman. I love the small ears on the cowl, the texture of the suit (it’s not veins, people) and especially the over-sized bat symbol on the chest. It screams of Frank Miller’s Dark Knight which is one of my favourite depictions.
In fact, the only thing I’m iffy on is how the cape and cowl meet. It looks like this Batman might have some Cant-Turn-His-Head-itis, but with that said, the cape/cowl looks to be one piece, so maybe it’s a lighter rubber that has some give to it.
Nolan’s Batman had a great, functional suit, but I’m pretty pleased to see this one drawing so much inspiration from not only comics, but THE Batman comic in my opinion. Here’s hoping there is also a scene in which an open-shirted Superman has an eagle land on his arm.
Today’s big reveal comes to us from new pal Jazel Riley:
Jazel Riley is a new addition to the CCP Comics group and is currently penciling and inking covers for FLIP Relapse. His previous projects include an Isis Anthoogy for Bluewater productions as well as work on the book “The Belgerian Conflict” for Dark Phoenix studios. Unfortunately, neither book saw print. He has recently contributed as writer and artist to several issues of “The Gathering” from GrayHaven Comics. He studied graphic design and illustration at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. When not drawing, Jazel enjoys gaming and watching sports. Look for future CCP projects from Jazel in the near future. Also, see more of his artwork at his Deviant Art page at JazzRy.DeviantArt.com, and contact him through his Facebook page at Facebook.com/TheArtOfJazelRiley.
Have a great weekend, Friends! See you back here Tuesday!
