While these days it’s not unheard of for there to be talk of sequels before a big-profile movie comes out, it’s still kind of unusual for there to be an announcement of a title and date of a sequel before the movie comes out.
X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer has been know to tweet snippets of info and pictures from his movies, but he’s taken it to a new level by announcing that in 2016 we will see X-Men: Apocalypse.
Presumably, this will be a big-screen adaptation of the Age of Apocalypse storyline, which I have to say could be damn fun. Now the big question is: does it include “old” cast members like Days of Future Past? Will it continue in the world of “First Class?” These are intriguing questions, especially since we haven’t even see DoFP yet.
Either way, it looks like the X-Men are in for a good chunk of screen time in the next couple of years. Could this get them into the same movie-tier as Avengers and Superman/Batman? Perhaps. But I think it’s going to be a fun ride finding out!
