Chain Mail Chafes
I think the chain mail works well for Nick, no?
There are a few genres of comics I’ve never really been into. It’s not that I don’t like them, they just aren’t my bag. One of these genres is what I call the “Barbarian” genre. Kull, Conan, Ka-Zar, Tarzan and yes, Red Sonja. Again, it’s not that I have anything agains these books, or the very talented creators behind them. I just don’t go for jungle cats and loin cloths.
However, toss in a writer like Gail Simone… suddenly my ears have perked up.
I’m definitely interested to see what Gail can bring to Red Sonja. Let’s be honest, the title’s sole selling point up until now had been a redhead in a bikini. Again, not that I have anything against that, it’s just not usually on my comics radar.
Hopefully Gail can do what she always does: Give a voice and character to a strong female lead and put her in interesting and compelling situations.
At the very least, the’ll have sold one more book and that’s always a good step, right?
Today’s page comes to us from the mind and pen of Gibson Quarter:
