Just Dreddful

Before we get to today’s page, I do have a brief announcement to make. You may have noticed that there was no update on Monday and the reason for that is thus: As of this week, Gutters will be moving to a once-a-week update schedule. Every Wednesday you will get the same Gutters fun and snark that you have come to love and loathe.

Now, there are a few reasons why this is happening. Some are business-related and boring, others are magical and involve wizards. The bottom line is it comes down to choices. Choices that we as a group here at Gutters have to make regarding how to best spend our time and resources. Because as much as we would like to put more hours in the day (that’s where the magic comes in), it’s not super likely. All I can say at this point is Blind Ferret has some really incredible things coming down the pipe and you can expect some really big announcements soon.

So for now, though it’s a bummer to only meet here once a week, let me assure you that it’s for the greater good. I know speak for Sohmer, Rich, Ed, Rus, Lar and our slew of artists when I say that we love doing Gutters. We could not appreciate your support any more if you were dipped in chocolate and served with strawberries.

So stay tuned, keep an eye on us and remember: A Gutters page in the hand is worth Two in the bush.

OK, admittedly, I have no idea what that means. But when you peel that onion… you get there. Think about it.

Anyways, business aside, on to today’s page.

I have not seen Dredd 3D yet. Based on the numbers that came in over the weekend, I am far from alone.

I’m sure eventually I’ll see the flick and everyone I’ve spoken to who’s seen it has said they really enjoyed it. But… and I don’t know if it’s a UK/North America thing or not, but I’ve never really understood the fascination with Dredd. I know he has a massive following on the Tea-Lovin’ side of the ocean, but in North America he’s never seemed to be able to get the traction one needs to be an upper-tier character. I can’t say why he’s never caught on as much over here, but it’s how it seems.

Perhaps Karl Urban will change my mind, but he’s got a big set of Stallone-sized shoes to fill.

Today’s page comes to us from Billy Fowler:

Acquiring a passion for comic related art when he was a kid watching cartoons like Super Friends, Thundercats, and He-Man in the early 80’s, Billy Fowler has been drawing and painting comic characters ever since.  A native of Durham, North Carolina, he is an artist with a longstanding ardor for comics and comic art illustration.  He went onto earn his Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and printmaking in December 2005 and now dedicates his time to creating drawings, paintings, and digital art.

Stay good, my friends! Meet you back here next Wednesday!
