I did not see Clint Eastwood’s speech to the empty chair at the RNC. I’ve heard about it enough since it happened though that I feel like I did.
Here’s the bottom line: No matter what you think about Clint Eastwood’s politics or showmanship, the fact remains that he is very, very old. As we in the comics world note every time Stan Lee starts a new “business,” old men can say and do things sometimes that they think is really poignant, but is in reality just kinda weird.
In fact, I think Clint Eastwood is kind of the Cinematic World equivalent of Stan Lee. I also think that we desperately need a TV show in which Stan Lee and Clint Eastwood sit around a large table and discuss current events.
That, or one where they drive around in a van solving mysteries. I’d watch the hell out of that show…
Today’s page comes from a man I hope to grow old with, Hawk:
Hawk, more formally known as Mohammad F. Haque, leads a double life: innovative artist/illustrator by day, lightning-fingered techie by night. He currently juggles several projects and job titles, including concept designer/illustrator for Quantum Mechanix based in Los Angeles. He hails from the Maryland/DC area and scored a degree in Graphic Design and Art from the University of Maryland.
Enjoy the start to the week and we’ll see you back here Wednesday!
