Hey, by-the-by, If you should happen to be in the Baltimore area this weekend and are hitting up the appropriately-named “Baltimore Comic Con” keep an eye out for Sohmer, Lar and the Blind Ferret Crew!
They will be there for the duration of the weekend with Gutters books, lanyards and chinwags and would love to say hi!
Now, as for today’s page, personally, I have to say I’m pretty stoked for “Masks.”
I’m a big fan of the pulp-era characters and love the idea of them doing a crossover. Throw in Alex Ross painting the interiors and they might as well take my $3.99 right now. Ross has established himself as the tip of the iceberg when it comes to painted comics and to see him doing something more than covers again brings great warmth to my cold, cold heart.
My only prayer is that he is far enough ahead in the work that the book will come out with some kind of regularity. “Justice” was a great book Ross’ interiors made it a cut above all the other large-scale stories that were being told at the time (*cough-cough* Infinite Crisis *cough*).
The problem “Justice” was having to wait 2 months between issues. I understand that it takes a lot of time and effort to get these things out, especially in Ross’ case. But can Comics not get to a point where we have, I dunno, 6 issues done before we start releasing them?
Just an idea.
