Galactus Hungers For Wedding Cake!
For our friends out in Phoenix, I understand this is a sad time. Though they fought valiantly, the elimination of the Coyotes from the Stanley Cup Playoffs is nothing short of a tragedy. But do not dispair my friends! Like a Shane Doan slapshot, Sohmer, Lar, Becker and Stone are flying your way for the Phoenix Comicon!
The boys will be at booth #707 for the duration of the show with lots of Gutters books, lanyards and good cheer, so please stop by and say hello! You’ll know Sohmer as the one hunting a mystical Phoenix with a crossbow. He’s somewhat confused, but harmless.
As for today’s page, it’s rare that we tackle the same topic twice in a Gutters page (let alone back to back) but it seems like the impending events of Astonishing X-Men #51 are still on everyone’s mind.
I think that I made my feelings on the Northstar/Kyle Nuptials pretty clear, so let me just say this: That’s an awesome idea for a cover.
I’ve been a big fan of the “blank” cover variant since they started popping up a few years ago. Conversely, I can’t say I like the retailer customized covers as much. They ask the retailer to take a bit too much of a hit on those.
But combining the two into something that’s fun like the “Create Your Own Wedding” cover? Yeah, I’m in on that.
Plus, anything that puts a smile like that on the face of the Devourer of Worlds is OK by me.
For today’s page we turned to our very own Ambassador of Adoreableness, Anna-Maria Jung:
Since Anna-Maria Jung was born in 1984, fantastic stories have been a significant part of her life. Since 2002, she has produced various comics and illustrations for comic anthologies in Germany and Austria, published two of her own comics and worked on four animated shorts, one of them in Scotland and one in New York City in cooperation with independent animator Bill Plympton. In 2009 she received the Fulbright scholarship and started studying a Master program in Illustration at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in New York and graduated in 2011. She is currently living and working in New York City, producing illustrations for the editorial market, children’s books, graphic novels and apparel.
Have a great weekend, friends! See you back here on Monday!
