Everything Old Is New Again

Yeah, I can deal with Jim Lee’s new design for Darkseid. Y’know, if they aren’t gonna go with the boy band idea then, y’know, I guess Jim Lee’s is cool.

I would totally buy a Darkseid Boys album though. In fact, if you look at a lot of Kirby’s Fourth World stuff through the context of a boy band, it makes a lot more sense.

I’m just kidding. It still doesn’t make sense.

At any rate, Jim Lee’s Darkseid will debut as part of the story that continues in this week’s Justice League #3. Between this book and Joe Mad pencilling Avenging Spider-Man, the 15 year old comics fan in me is brimming with glee. I seriously hope these guys can keep up the pace and not fall back into old habits leading to late and ultimately cancelled books.

So in that spirit, because we thought having one artist was just too darn easy, today’s page is brought to us by a trifecta of artists from Identity Comics. Bryan Turner, Penelope Gaylord and Jerry Gaylord:

Penelope “Peng-Peng” Gaylord is a full-time artist and a member of Identity Comics Studio based in the DC area. She has done several sketchcard sets for 5Finity Productions, Upper Deck, and Versicolor Productions, among others. She has also done character designs for several independent publishers. She draws mostly pin-up ladies and enjoys long late-night games of zombie slaying. Currently, Peng-Peng is working on a project with Identity Comics Studio called “The Brotherhood of Fighters.”

Jerry Gaylord has been working in the comics biz since 2002. He has had the good fortune to work on many Marvel and Star Wars licensed projects as well as comics with friends and industry pros. Currently, Jerry is working as a full time artist and loving every second of it.

Bryan “Flash!” Turner is a full-time artist, thanks to his wonderful wife, and he is also a member of Identity Comics Studio (www.IdentityComics.com) based in the DC area. He has done several sketchcard sets for Marvel/Upper Deck, Marvel/Rittenhouse, and Versicolor Productions, among others. He has also done short stories for independent publishers. Character Design and development is his true passion. His 3 kids have already picked up the ‘habbit’ of drawing all the time! Currently, Flash is working on a project with Identity Comics Studio called “The Brotherhood of Fighters.”

Have fun, my friends, and see you here Friday!
