All snark aside, I find myself rather enjoying DC’s New 52 thus far. There are misses as well as hits, but overall, I feel as if they’re accomplishing what they set out to do: reviving interest in characters I stopped reading about years ago.
We’re only a couple weeks into September, but somehow, DC made me care about Animal Man.
In addition to the books themselves, I’ve gleaned almost as much joy from forums and blog posts. Though I do believe that comic fandom is unique in its own special way, I have a suspicion that such communities have been around long before our time.
Todays 100% historically accurate page was done by the very talented Joe Eisma:
Joe Eisma is the artist and co-creator of the Eisner-nominated series, Morning Glories from Image Comics. In addition, he has worked on Notorious, Existence 3.0 and Dynamo 5 from Image Comics, as well as Serpo from Devil’s Due and We the People from Outlaw Entertainment. Joe also works in the game development field, having contributed animations, 3d models and texture art to games on the iPhone, Nintendo DS, PC and Xbox Live platforms. He currently resides in the Dallas area in Texas, along with his wife Kimberly and son Logan. He is a fan of documentary film, coffee and chairs.
Enjoy the start to the week, folks, and we’ll see you back here on Wednesday.
