In spite of the tounge-in-cheek teaser presented here, I have to say: I cannot WAIT for The Shadow’s return to comics.
When I was a kid, the local FM radio station on Sunday nights used to have a show called “Theatre of The Mind” that would play old radio serials from the 30’s and 40’s. “XMinus One,” “The Green Hornet,” “Dragnet,” and my absolute favourite, “The Shadow”, would be presented in all their crackly, mono glory. I still have some of those episodes on dusty old cassette tapes.
That’s kind of ironic, because I don’t own a cassette player. But I digress…
It was from these shows that my love of pulp fiction and comics grew and while some of Dynamite’s revival series like “The Phantom” have been met with lukewarm reception, I’m really looking forward to The Shadow. it has the potential to be as good as modern pulp like Criminal and Sin City, and honestly I’d just love to see this character re-introduced to a whole generation that could discover him like I did.
